Best of the Best?

Happy Wednesday to everyone. I recently came across an article titled
Now, I'm not entirely sure I agree with all of the list. What say you? (click the link for list details)
Books:
Dracula
Sookie Stackhouse
Anne Rice
Anita Blake
30 Days of Night
Blade
Salem's Lot
Vampire Academy

Movies:
Dracula
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Let the Right One In
The Lost Boys
I am Legend (I think this belongs in the books and not the movies)
Nosferatu

This list reminds me that I should create a "best" list of my own. So what do you guys think? What do you think are the best vampire movies and books? Anything on these lists that should not be on here?

Best of lists are always tricky, because they're so subjective. But they're fun as well...

I didn't even know there was a book for "30 Days of Night" - and as I was pretty bored by the movie I guess I'll give this one a pass.

My list would go something like this:

Bram Stoker "Dracula" (duh)
John William Polidori "The Vampyre" (absolutely has to go on the list)
Anne Rice "Interview with the Vampire" (and only this one)
George R.R. Martin "Fevre Dreams"

And movies:
"The Hunger"
"The Lost Boys"
"Interview with the Vampire"
"The Wisdom of Crocodiles"

yeah well I defintly think that Twilight should not come down under any of these catogories no offence.
You just got to love Bram Stoker's Dracula <3

My book list:
Anne Rice's vampire chronicles (except Blood Canticle)
Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse novels.
The Historian (Elizabeth Kostova)
Darren Shan (Easy to read and an intersedting take on vampires)

My movie list:
Bram Stokers Dracula
Interview with a Vampire
Underworld (all 3)
Dracula 2001 (acting was a bit lame, but it was another interseting take on the legend)
Van Helsing (Purely entertainment!)
Day Watch and Night Watch!

TV Series:
Buffy- although it has to be said it was more an indulgence!
True Blood
Vampire Diaries (which is better than the books in my opinion!)

There are way to many books I love to list them all, but I do have my favorite book Series'(and favorite Characters):
Anita Blake
Undead - Mary Janice Davidson (Betsy)
True Blood series (love Eric & Pam!)
The Grave series - Jeaniene Frost (Cat & Bones)
The Black Dagger Brotherhood series - J.R. Ward
Blood Books - Tanya Huff

Movies:
Dracula
Interview w/the Vampire
Blade
Underworld
The Lost Boys
(I would live to say Twilight, but the acting is just sooo bad to be considered a 'best'!)

I added my own catagory - TV Shows:
True Blood
Buffy
Angel
Blood Ties
Moonlight
The Dresden Files
Vampire Diaries (only because of Damon)

Hahaha, she e-mailed you, too, eh Lindsay ;)

The list Nicole gave is fairly generic and I can't help but be amused by the "Before Twilight" heading. If that's the benchmark of future vampire fiction, then we got a lot to be worried about!

As to reader suggestions for a list, as bad as this sounds, I'm not fluent enough with vampire novels to give a well-rounded list, but for movies, I'll say:

1. From Dusk Till Dawn
2. Fright Night
3. Bram Stoker's Dracula
4. Vampire Circus
5. Taste the Blood of Dracula

List subject to change. Oh, and I haven't seen Let the Right One In, yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about it.

These are great guys!

Anthony- Yeah... personally I wouldn't put Twilight on the "great" lists (maybe great at being able to make fun of). And honestly, as much as I love the Sookie books, I wouldn't list it under "best vampire books" either.

I thought Let the Right One in was a great movie. I heard that American movie makers were going to remake it. I am sure if they did it would be ruined.
